THE WEATHER IN VIETNAM IS VERY COMPLICATED!

Although Vietnam is located in the tropics, the country has 4 different weather regions due to the country’s length. There is not really the best time to visit Vietnam because during most months of the year you will experience both sunshine and rain in varying quantities.

Vietnam has two different monsoon seasons: winter monsoon and summer monsoon.
– The winter monsoon (also called as Northeast monsoon) is from November to early April. In the first half of winter season, it brings cold and dry temperature in the North. In the other half of winter, it delivers the cold, wet and there is drizzle in the North Coast, North Delta and the North Central while delivers the dry to the South and Central Highlands.
– The summer monsoon (also called as Southwest monsoon) affects from May to October. From May to July, there is rain in the South Delta and Central Highlands while dry climate in the South Central Coast and Northwest. From June to October, it brings humid climate and heavy rain to the whole country.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT VIETNAM?

We have noted some good time for travelling to particularly beautiful attractions in Vietnam as bellow:

Ho Chi Minh City
Dry season is from December to April, which is a good time to travel to this city. However, you should not travel Ho Chi Minh City during the Tet holiday because almost everyone comes back to hometown and there are not many places open.

Ha Long Bay
April, May and June is the best time to travel Halong Bay with a pleasant weather. The weather is not hot and too much sunny, which is extremely great for swimming, exciting activities such as kayaking, canoeing, scuba diving snorkeling and visit many grottos.

September to November is acceptable to enjoy swimming in the cooler weather. Nevertheless, it sometimes has storms in this period of time.

Trang An
If Trang An is on your ‘bucket list’, make sure to come here between February and April when you can enjoy the beautiful spring. Besides, if you are looking for Trang An’s special beauty and uniquely majestic landscape photos, please come to visit in May and June to see impressively ripening rice field

Hanoi
You are planning to visit Hanoi in the autumn? Yes, that is exactly the best time! The weather is almost no rain anymore in September and October. The sky is clearly blue while the temperature is very pleasant; you can additionally see many daisies which sold everywhere or taken many romantic photos at daisy fields.

Sapa
The temperature in Sapa is very low from December to February, there is high potential that you can see the snow.
From February to April, flowers are blooming everywhere, which artfully makes a colorful landscape of Sapa. April is the time people start to transplant young rice, all the rice terrace is covered by the silver color of the water.
May through July is the time that Sapa has a very green cover because of the rice growing. This cover is changing to a yellow color since September and creates a spectacular scene which should not be missed if you are looking for an impressive photo. The second half of September is perfectly perfect for family leisure vacation.
Some places in Sapa start to harvest from October so you should check carefully before you book ticket.

Da Nang and Hoi An
Months between June and August are always the best time to visit Da Nang and Hoi An which located in the Central of Vietnam. During these months you can perfectly enjoy the very pleasant weather and less wavy sea at the same time.
Please remember to avoid travelling these cities from September until the end of December because of dangerous storms and flood.

Da Lat City
Time during November to June is dry season in Da Lat; therefore, this is the nice time to visit Da Lat. Starting from the end of October through the end of November, full bloom wild sunflowers cover on both side of many roads and many hills.
If you love to enjoy the romantically pink grass hills, visit Da Lat between the middle of November and January. To join in the Flower Festival, there must be no more right time than the lunar new year holiday when you can experience the traditional Tet of Vietnam.
Heavy rains begin from July to October and so, you should not visit Da Lat at this time.

Nha Trang City
There is no best time can be compared with July, August and September if you are planning to go to Nha Trang. The sea is beautifully clear and the temperature is decreasing during this time.

Mui Ne
The months between December and February is exactly the very nice time to visit Mui Ne, the very cool weather will surely make you feel pleasant. This kind of weather is perfect for you to visit the “Little Sahara” and play many games on sandhills where you also can see the blooming lotus lake.
Sea lovers and surfers cannot miss Mui Ne from August to December when is interestingly seasonal transition. The waves are strong enough to surf and play many water games.

If you are planning a long tour from the North to the South, you should schedule between the months of October and February.

HIGH SEASON IN VIETNAM

Following are some holidays in Vietnam that people usually make a vacation trip, which may cause huge number of tourists:
– New Year Day (1st of January)
– Tet holiday (Lunar New Year holiday)
– Hung King Festival (10th of March in Lunar calendar)
– Reunification Day and Labor Day (April 30th and May 1st)
– Summer time from June through August: Almost pupils and students are on holiday so their families often make vacations during this time.
– Independence Day (September 2nd)
